Peter is 1 years old!!

 Peter Franklyn Colton

You are 1 years old! This year has flown by and you have grown so much! You weigh  lbs. and are   in. tall. We adore you!

You are moving like crazy! At the beginning of the month you were walking all over holding on to things and taking several steps on your own. Now you are walking, walking, walking all on your own! You are getting sturdier on your feet every day. You have mastered walking in your bare feet but you are not sure what you think about having shoes on those feet. You are a pro at going up the stairs and you also have learned how to turn around and go downstairs now! You are like a little sponge and soak everything in and learn so fast! You've got to if you want to keep up with the big kids!

Food and you is a bit of a conundrum lately. For a few weeks you would not eat baby food anymore; you only wanted big people food. Now you've switched and would rather have baby food than real food. You are asserting your ability to say no to almost everything we try to feed you - even when we KNOW you will love it. You still love blueberries though! Those and pizza, bananas, dino nuggets, oatmeal, grahams and scrambled eggs are your favorites. The other night you surprised us and had first and second helpings of salmon! You've gotten you 2 top incisors but not your top front teeth yet. Maybe that's the trouble, your mouth is starting to hurt again? You love the mama's milk straight from her and still nurse 3-4 times a day! You are our first baby to not love taking milk from a bottle - even if it is mom's milk. But you will drink cows milk and water from a sippy cup!

Peter, you have suddenly become a professional napper and sleeper! For 12 months we have tried to get you to take a solid nap or dare we ask for 2 naps a day. once you turned 1 it's like you just decided you need and want those naps. You will sleep for 2 hours in the morning and another hour and a half in the afternoon and sleep a solid 11-12 hours at night! Thank heavens for that. It has done wonders for your moma's mental health! Maybe it's helped that we set up a room just for you downstairs in the office. It's quite and dark and consistent. You hated that crib so we got rid of it and you just sleep in the pack and play. :)

You are still a mama's boy through and through! You always reach for mom to hold you and if anyone else is close or tries to kiss or hug her you push them away! You love to give kisses and give the best open mouthed kisses ever! You also are very wary of anyone who enters our home. You feel threatened that mom is going to leave and automatically get sad and clingy.

Currently your favorite things to do are to grab whatever you can find - usually recycling items or shoes left out by the back door, scoot yourself backwards to the stairs and throw them down the stairs. You love playing with the silverware in the dishwasher, taking baths and splashing in them, having screaming matches with Russell, playing with the computer or the computer mouse. You are so curious and SO busy. We can just see the little wheels turning in your brain and you learn SO quickly!

You have the most fun birthday! You LOVED you birthday cake and picked up the whole thing kept taking bite after bite. The ice cream was not your favorite though. Too cold! You got a tissue box and a sippy cup from mom and dad. Some fun books from Grandma Cait and cute mickey mouse jammies from Kristen. Grandma Mimi and Grandpa got you a toy truck with little cars that go inside. Russell believes that it is his and will hide it by his bed every day so no one else will find it!

You got your very first hair cut on your birthday and you look SO grown up and handsome now. You had so much hair! Mommy cut your hair and did a pretty good job! We took family photos the day after your birthday and you got to smash into another cake! You loved it but weren't too happy when the other kids came to have some too. You also did not want mom to leave you alone so getting a good shot was pretty tricky, but I think we got some good ones!

We love you so much Peter and have loved watching you grow this last year! You are such a sweet little boy, full of smiles and giggles and are so pleasant all of the time. Thank you for joining our family and putting up with your crazy brothers and sister who love you So much!
