Matheson Family Olympics

Matheson Family Olympics!

My family all got together (those who were in town, Mb and Spencer we missed you so much!) and had a big birthday celebration to celebrate all the birthdays from Jan. through June. Now, my mom can't do a birthday party (or any party for that matter) without a theme. So this one was the Olympics I guess!

We had a great steak BBQ first....

I told them to smile and this is what I got.... from BOTH of them! UGH!

That's better!

Then, the festivities began! We divided into two teams. We had to come up with a team name, chant, and two Olympic events. We had team Swimming Monkeys - Me, Garhett, Nate, Sally, Lillian, Sarajane, and cousin Chauncey. And team What About Bob-Cats - Mom, Dad, Rich, Brooke, Scottie, Bethanne, and Janie. My Granny and Grandpa were the judges.

1st Event: Human Horseshoes (created by team Swimming Monkeys)

2nd Event: 'Baby Steps' Relay Race (created by team What about Bob-Cats)

3rd Event: Kayak Relay (created by team Swimming Monkeys)

They were HAULING!

Sorry Nate, I just couldn't run as fast as you! He pretty much dragged me the whole way. But our team still won by 1 sec!

4th Event: Blow the Sail Boat (created by team What About Bob-Cats)

Team What About Bob-Cats was the winner! (Darn it!) But a fun time was had by all! Thanks mom and dad for a great birthday celebration!

Team Swimming Monkeys: Silver Medal!

Team What About Bob-Cats: Gold Medal!

Mom singing her girls camp version of Happy birthday that is like 5 minutes long and 5 songs as well! We love her enthusiasm and love for life!
