Abby and the past 5 months

Much has happened since Abby's 1 year birthday. But, that's where this slacker of a mother kind of dropped off the face of the blogging world. Things got a little crazy as Abby got older and we found out baby #2 was on the way.

Here's a brief recap of the last few months!

October:

Grandma Mindy's Harry Potter Party! Yes, Abby is wearing my build-a-bear's Halloween costume, and a garbage sack cape! Ha!

Making our traditional Halloween sugar cookies! Abby enjoyed it much better this year than she did last year (when she was 1 month old)!

Carving pumpkins for family home evening. Abby wasn't quite sure what to think of it, but she was a good helper.

The farmers and their little strawberry harvest! Isn't she the cutest little piece of fruit you've ever seen!!?

November:

We always tuck Abby in for bed and nap times. On occasion Abby likes to tuck Daddy in for a Sunday afternoon nap with all of her baby dolls and stuffed animals! And, becoming more and more common, I tuck them both in for a nice little nap.

Abby enjoyed helping rake up all the leaves in the back yard. She was a good sport when Dad tried to bury her in the big pile; she only lasted a few seconds - just long enough to snap a good picture or two!

My favorite little visitor at work!

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma Cait's house this year. We had fun visiting with family and eating lots and lots of yummy food. Abby was in a particularly good mood and was trying to tease and play with everyone. She is one of the things we are most grateful for this year - a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl!

December:

Abby has recently discovered, and become quite good at opening candy wrappers and packages. We went to visit Grandpa Matheson on his birthday and he gave Abby a treat. I didn't think much of it as we drove home until I started to smell peanut butter! I looked back and saw this adorable little face delightfully stuffing the Reese's peanut butter cup in her mouth with this huge grin on her face. It's so hard to be mad when she looks as happy and proud of herself as she does in this picture.
Abby has started to climb and explore new places in the house. One of her favorite spots is on the bottom shelf of the entry way table. It seems to be just the right spot for her!
Abby has this darling friend at church who is the same age as her. They love to play together and it is so sweet!

We took advantage of one of the first big snow storms of the season and took Abby out to play in the snow for the FIRST time in her little life. She mostly liked it until Dad buried her in the snow. (Don't be deceived by that cute little smile, it didn't last very long.)

We spent Christmas Eve with my family this year and had our traditional Christmas Eve nativity program. Abby got to be the Angel. I think she is the cutest little angel there ever was! We were all spoiled for Christmas this year and are so grateful for the love and thoughtfulness of those around us. One of the most memorable gifts we received was from Great Granny and Grandpa Berhold. It is a hand-made marble works make by my grandpa. I remember as a kid playing with his marble works toy. It was one of my favorite things to do at their house. I'm so grateful Abby gets to have a little piece of my grandpa's fine handiwork. This will be a gift we will cherish forever!

We spent Christmas Day at Grandma Cait's. Abby got a rocking-giraffe from Aunt Taylor and Uncle Kyle. If you didn't know already, Abby's nursery is themed with giraffes so this was the perfect gift, and as you can see, she LOVES it!

All of my siblings were in town for the holidays this year for my Sister Janie's wedding on January 2nd. It was fun to spend time together. We went sledding with everyone. It was Abby's first time. She went down once and decided that was enough for her. She takes after her mom and enjoys sitting in the warm car and watching rather than being out in the cold!

We went to Zoo Lights with Richie and Brooke and their family for New Year's Eve this year. It was really neat. I had never been before. Then we went back to their home and had a great dinner and games to celebrate the new year. We didn't quite make it all the way to midnight! I guess that shows how old we're getting. Ha! But it was still a fun night!

January:

My cute sister Janie and her sweetheart Joey were married on Jan. 2nd. It was a beautiful and magical wedding, as it should have been. We were able to snap few family pictures before Abby got too out of control. And on the right is a picture of my studly husband. I'm a lucky girl!

Abby has so much fun with Daddy. Sometimes Mom thinks it might be TOO much fun!

Our little Abby is getting so big and also developing quite the little personality and attitude. Everyday she surprises us with something new and we just adore her!

We went to the Children's Museum for the first time and Abby had so much fun! I understand now what it's like to live through your kids. I had so much fun just watching Abby have so much fun. Her favorite station was the construction zone. She's such a Daddy's girl!

Abby has rediscovered her Mamaroo chair that she used as an infant. Crazy to see how much she's grown. Hope she doesn't get too mad when her little brother takes over the chair in a few months!

We had a fun family date night with these two love bird newlyweds. We went ice skating with Janie and Joey and had a blast. They wouldn't let us hold Abby or walk with her on the ice but we were allowed to push her around in the stroller. She seemed to enjoy that.

Eating spaghetti and helping Dad vacuum the floors. We like to teach them young at our house to work hard. Ha ha. Mostly Abby just wants to do whatever we're doing. Sometimes it slows me down when she wants to help with EVERYTHING, but I always let her help. It never lasts very long and the smile on her face is well worth the wait.

February:

The pictures on the left are of her cute Valentines outfit. She's starting to understand smiling for the camera and I can't get enough of that cute smile! The picture on the right, I'm not exactly sure what she's even wearing but thought it was pretty cute. She's chowing down on some popcorn - a girl after grandpa Matheson's heart!

We went to see the new Provo City Center Temple and walked through during the open house with Grandma Cait and Grandma and Grandpa Matheson. It is a beautiful place! Abby was a good sport, but wanted to "explore" more areas than we were allowed to. She kept running all over the place every time we put her down. And this girl can run! But we had a great time and topped it off with a little ice cream. I couldn't resist posting the picture on the right - Abby reaching up to try to touch the ice cream. Oh this girl loves her treats!

We found out, this month, that the new addition to our family is going to be a little boy! We are all so excited. It is so fun to watch Abby come up to me and give my belly kisses and hugs. I think deep down she knows what's going on and it just melts my heart!

This is how we announced that we were having a boy. Abby was totally done with me by the end of the picture taking, as you can tell by her face - "Come on Mom! Are we done yet?"

Annual Matheson Family Valentines Dinner! We dressed up as our favorite famous couple. We have Wesley and Princess Buttercup; Jim Craig and Jessica from the Man from Snowy River; Yin and Yang; and Lucy and Ricky Ricardo! My cute mom takes any excuse to throw a party, especially one that you dress up at, but they are always so much fun!

We each made valentines boxes and ours won first prize this year. Abby is showing off her prize with pride!

Time sure does slip away. Before we know it we'll have two little munchkins running around and we're so thrilled!
